In a closed-door (01/02/2017) meeting house Republications set about to weaken the independence of the Office of Congressional Ethics charged with investigating accusations against lawmakers. It seems to this blogger that lawmakers wanted to somehow have some control over who will be doing the investigating of them and their actions, not necessarily wrong doing, that may prove to be unfounded, but investigated nevertheless. Citizens looking in from the outside, can consummate that the naked did not have any clothes on despite the appearance of being naked, as if to say, we are not naked, even if at times we appear to be. In my humble mind government behind closed doors is not government at all but a shell game, now you see, then you don’t. Imagine Congress as an individual seeking operating trust without ever showing its tax return, who knows what wheeling and dealing is being conducted in the people’s name under cover, behind closed doors, in the dark of night, without the investigate arm of the Office of Congressional Ethics…
