Order Into Chaos

Splitting from the European Union will inevitably strain the United Kingdom’s territorial integrity. Those pushing for Scotland and Northern Ireland to secede from the United Kingdom are using Brexit to justify their agendas. Brexit will also open a debate between the central government in London and the country’s devolved governments about who will control the powers that will be repatriated from Brussels. With authority over policy areas such as agriculture, fisheries, industry and the environment returning to the United Kingdom after Brexit, the administrations of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will push London to transfer many of those attributions to them. After the full effect of Brexit comes into being should visa-free travel continue between the U.K. and member states of the European Union? After all, visa-free travel was only granted to its member states not to those countries outside of the union. So many other restrictions may come into play, that are considered normal relations among nations not intimate, without formal trade agreements, short and long term negotiable instruments of finance, a negotiated rate of return on monies, in short, monetary policies, a prescribed rate of exchange. Which can be liken to a divorcing couple finances once joined now separate, each one paying their own way through a life that was once joined in all things. And what of the children, in this case, of the United Kingdom states being left behind, what is to become of them, how will they fare through life without the intimate support of their once care giving parent. These are questions not fully discussed or even considered when those Brexit selfish ‘British first’, no nothings where crying for a separatism, a very dangerous precipice that will be coming forth when the full and heavy force of Brexit hits…with a remembrance of a Toby Keith song, ‘How Do You Like Me Now?
