 In the opinion of this observational blogger is to illustrate a kinda faked up standard still in evidence in every art museum around the world, pointing to and declaring, a very narrow conception of just what is true art, in accordance with the European gauge of paper-thin acceptability. In short, blocking out most other art cultures, just as an example, so called primitive arts which can be mined from parts of Africa and Asia. So why this long out of the way journey, the European woman as an object of beauty, as it has creeped into broadcast journalism, with Asian women appearing as a streaking blond dye head, or taken to the extreme, a full headed blond. It is seemingly just for viewer eyeballs in the end increasing advertising dollars with the aim of training viewers into liking what they see, wanting more of the same and getting it all over television in which they frequently appear in newscasts. 

Once upon a time in America, African Americans tried to recapture their lost culture, their African culture, men wore dashiki’s, even on formal occasions, both men and women’s hair was styled a la natural without being processed in any way. Some started to learn to speak Swahili, or other African dialects, it must be noted that didn’t last that long. Nowadays, women can be found wearing a straight hair wig, or dressed in streaking blond hair dyes. During and right after the American Civil War, the worse name one could call an African American was ‘black’, enter upon the stage the ‘high yellow’s’, and they have been the pride of the race ever since, if you want to call them that, they were the ones that got the jobs, even in the movies. Their appearance was the least offensive, and more pleasing to the eye and accepted in mix-race cultures, think Lena Horne or Dorothy Dandridge if you must. I once called them the ’new tans’, if a script calls for an African American woman, you can bet she will most likely be one of those ‘high yellow’s’ and not one of those ‘darkies’.

Culture genocide is possible, one has only to consider the African American as proof it can be done. Before captured then enslaved they possessed many religions, ethnicities, and languages as they now possess only their master’s religion and English speech.  Ask any of them to try to trace their ancestries could only, if possible, start and end with the southern state of their family’s enslavement and no further. Think of Indian Boarding Schools or Uyghur detention centers in China and thank goodness the Americans were and are unsuccessful but only in part.

Whenever I buy a new product, are not sure how to set it up, how it’s supposed to work, I always watch an unpacking demonstration on YouTube, if a woman is the demonstrator, she will be hair dyed, smokie eyed, young and trashy looking, just like most women hired to present the news on television. 

When the first Europeans landed on the North American continent which was solely populated by indigenous peoples, I don’t think the word ‘replacement’ was ever uttered even though that is what eventually happened. When those European settlers started expanding westward traveling by wagon train through the beautiful countryside admiringly asked who owns this land, nobody, was the reply, its Indian land, great, we are claiming ownership and so they did. “This land is too good”, for the first peoples, later to be referred to collectively as Native Americans or wrongly, as a group, Indians, even though there were many individual ethnicities among them.

Wikipedia tells us, “a courtroom sketch is an artistic depiction of the proceedings in a court of law.” Last week I mentioned the need for having an Emmitt Till moment as a means to display the real-life carnage results on a human body after being hit in a mass shooting with an assault rifle. I no longer think that would be an innovative idea, as being far too gruesome of a picture to bear to look upon or display. However, now I favor a courtroom artists sanitized depiction would be better and have the same effect its hoped with most of the gruesomeness cut to a bearable minimum.   

There were so many bald-headed men on television this pass month, I lost count, if there were any women, I didn’t see many, they remain deeply under cover. It must be noted since that slap saw around the world there has been some discussion of women baldness and that is a good thing, as primitive and minuscule as it has been, there has been some movement and some progress toward an open culturally acceptance of that condition in women, they have never been immune. Women have long been more prone to suffer from baldness, since it is they who are more likely than men to experiment with toxic hair products as their hair care regimen.

Nobody is yet insisting American female television journalists cover their faces, however, culturally, long false eyelashes with smokie eyed make-up along with red painted clownish lip coverings are acceptable and in vogue.
